Zinio

One of my favourite apps. Im buying there my top wanted magz because of the well organization inside the app!!!

Great app

Its a pretty great app - I wish the refresh worked better to get new magazines in the account.

Love it!!

This app makes reading magazines on my iPad SO convenient. My public library offers a ton of magazines and notifies me when new issues come out. Ive told many people about this great app!!

Really like this App.

I love the convenience of this App. Unfortunately, the cost per magazine subscription has seemed to have increased so it is not a great bargain anymore. It is still very convenient. The only drawback is the need to download in advance of going on a trip. Still I really like having my magazines conveniently located on my iPad.

Good job

I love it that the libary is used in this interesting way. I have found many more desirable publications through Zinio than I had experienced before.

Access abroad and on the go

Zinio is great. Ive been living in Thailand since the 90s and after years of struggling to find physical copies of Harpers for sale for USD12 an issue its amazing to have it delivered to my iPad every month for a lot less money. Woo-hoo! One major complaint: Zinio needs to figure out a way for e app to bookmark your reading position in an article so when you return to a story you dont have to search the text and try to remember where you were. For longer articles that take several app visits to complete this is a real pain.

Like it but..

Liked the previous version better for iPad better. Now I have to tap on to news stand and then open zinio. A little annoying that I cant make the zinio appear on the iPad by itself like the previous version. And this is the only way I can get my digital subscription for 2 magazines I get. Wish there would be more choices and not only zinio

Poorly designed

So cumbersome to navigate and bad UI.

Not as convenient as before

Zinio is a great app that provides easy access to your digital media. I primarily use my library to check out magazines. The good news is that the new version works well as previous ones. The bad news is that the new interface is really cumbersome. Zinio is now buried in Apple newsstand. Zinio is still good but not as convenient as before.

Why the move?

I enjoy Zinio tremendously, and I have many subs on there, but I now find very annoying Apple moved it under Newstand on my iPad. I strongly dislike this move. Zinio as an app is great (5*).

Zinio

I been using this app for the past 5 years and I love it. No longer do I have to bring magazines with me, I have them at all times. Its great but I wish I could have all my back issues on my iPhone and iPod.

zinio icon gone.

The desktop icon for Zinio is missing and the only way to get it it is use Apple newsstand. So from one click to read my magazines is now 2 clicks and with the Zinio icon no longer located in my lower task bar. It is more work to read.

Love it on my iPad PRO! Finally it’s magazine sized! Love having access to magazines wherever I go!

I love Zinio, Ive been using it for years on my desktop too! I rarely buy magazines, my library lets me borrow magazines with Zinio for free and I generally have lots to read (ask your library). A lot of libraries in Michigan appear to be tied into this system. I’m not sure why people are complaining about the more recent versions, I’ve noticed no problems. Only problem (and this seems to come and go with various versions of the app) is that if you don’t exit the program it doesn’t shut the screen off and kills the battery. This is why I’m taking off a star. I thought they fixed this problem, but it’s back again... So lets start my review! I have a retina iPad but its still really hard to read full-page magazines fullscreen. Pages are still formatted as if youre reading on paper and not necessarily on a computer screen. This is not the fault of the app, its the magazine industry sticking to their old formats. Many magazines have a “read this article” mode that makes this not as much of a problem, but you only see the text. National Geographic has a digital edition and it’s great! Smaller magazines like Readers Digest or Prevention look GREAT because of the slightly smaller pages and those handle the resolution just great when they get magnified. Otherwise (for normal sized magazines) there just isnt enough resolution of the retina display to fully display the page at one time (so I end up holding the iPad sideways but Im scrolling CONSTANTLY because the columns are NOT set up for the computer screen they are set up for paper. The retina iPad screen is really really close to half the size of a 8.5" x 11" piece of paper (about half a regular magazine page) so its shrinking the page an awful lot. It seems like most magazines are 250-300 (PPI) pixels per inch (your laser printer is probably 300-600 PPI), while the retina iPad is 264 PPI its a magazine page fit to the iPad screen is going to be half its normal size. Its not my eyes, its just the smaller text is too small for the PPI (pixels per inch). It was harder on a regular iPad and impossible on an iPhone. Many Zinio articles have a button you can click to read it in a more flowing computer screen way but for me thats inconvenient, if they really wanted you to read it that way they would just reformat the magazine in the first place. I suppose thats something to do with the advertiser paying for full-page ads there is just no possible way you could read full-page ads on an iPhone(!), its hard enough on the iPad. Its time to reformat the layout and take digital magazines to the next level. It seems like way they store the magazines in memory, if your iDevice fills up, these magazines seem to get deleted.

Now buried in the Newsstand

Ugh! I want my zinio app back! Its now buried in Apples newsstand. I had it as one of my main apps at the bottom. Ive spent $100s on magazines and its a pain to use. Please bring back the old version!

Zinio

I have been using Zinio for a 4 or 5 years. I love this app. My magazines are always waiting for me. I never even think of trying another app. I am very happy with their services.

Great magazine app!

Easy to access with down loads from public libraries; And I enjoy viewing and reading current and past issues on iPad Air and iPhone 6 Plus.

Works Great

I havent had the problems mentioned by the other reviewers. Im able to download magazines from my local library with no problem. My only complaint is that I dont have enough time to read everything Id like to peruse.

Love it!!!

I only wish they gave more discounts...

Love it

This is the only app I use every day!!! I get free access to magazines from the library and love Mother Jones, Popular Science and even Readers Digest! Discover is my favorite!

Amazing gift!

Great magazines delivered to my ipad seamlessly. Dont know how I lived without it.
